The Move It Monday series is a platform to provide you with workout tips and to motivate you to become physically active. This week I have decided to turn the tables. Ask yourself the following, “what can I do to get healthy.” This will require you to take an inventory of your habits. Take an honest look at your diet and your level of physical activity. Are you doing the best you can?
Oftentimes as physicians we tell our patients what to do and how to do it. But, are our patients really listening? How many visits with your doctor have you had where your weight, your blood pressure or your diabetic labs hasn’t improved. You sit and listen to your physician and you walk out of your visit with a higher dose of your medication; or you walk out with one or two new prescription medications.
This experience can be demoralizing. But, at what point will you take ownership of your health and decide to make your health a priority. What is holding you back from becoming the healthiest person you can be? On this Move It Monday, I invite you to look in the mirror and ask yourself what steps can you make to get moving towards a healthy you.
