Congratulations to Serena Williams for wining the 2015 Wimbledon Open, marking her 21st Grand Slam Championship win. This is an important win for several reasons. First it is her sixth Wimbledon win. Secondly she is three shy of tying the record of 24 Grand Slam finals wins. Lastly this is the second time in her career that she has won four consecutive majors. She ended the 2014 Grand Slam tennis season winning the US Open. And thus far in 2015 she has won the Australian, French and Wimbledon Open. She is on track to win all four majors in the same calendar year with the US Open remaining.
At 33 years of age Serena is at the top of her game. She is competing and winning against women half her age. She exudes strength and fitness. After her 2015 Wimbledon win Serena was asked what is the greatest part of her game, her physical or mental strength? She stated that her mental strength is the strongest part of her game. If you have watched her play in the past two majors you know that when her back is against the wall and a win seems improbable she taps into an inner will that allows her to fight and claw her way to a win. In essence she never gives up. Congratulations Serena Williams!
