Move It Monday: Kick It With Kickboxing

I was at a point in my fitness where I needed to switch gears, I needed to mix up my exercise routine.  So I decided to give kickboxing a try.  I took advantage of a one-time free pass to a kickboxing class that was offered by a local boxing gym and that’s all it took, I was hooked.

Here are some reasons why kickboxing has become one my favorite exercises:

  1. It’s a total body and all-around workout.  It combines power, strength, endurance and aerobics.  I personally have burned upwards of 600 calories in one hour.
  2. It’s interval training at it’s best.
  3. It’s a confidence booster.  I feel strong and confident.  I feel like I can conquer the world.
  4. I feel refreshed and energized.

Kickboxing has become a great add-on to my exercise routine. I encourage you to give it a try because you may find that kicking it with kickboxing will elevate your fitness.  If you are a beginner, you can start at your own pace.  Follow proper technique by listening to your instructor.  Also, get proper fitting gloves and wrap your wrists and hands for protection.  As always, check-in with your primary medical provider for medical clearance before starting any exercise.
